The Blockchain Industry Coordinating Committee of Nigeria (BICCoN) is proud to have participated as the official ecosystem partner in the Algorand Hackathon: Nigeria 2024, held in Jalingo, Taraba State, on November 8–9, 2024. The hackathon, designed to foster innovation and empower developers, showcased transformative blockchain solutions addressing decentralized identity, financial inclusion, and supply chain challenges. Represented by Mr. Lucky Uwakwe (Chairman), Mr. Chimezie Chuta (Vice Chairman), and Kue Barinor Paul, Esq. (Public Relations Officer), BICCoN played a pivotal role by mentoring participants, judging submissions, and supporting impactful projects leveraging Algorand technology. Notable achievements included the emergence of innovative projects such as DataBank, Jointly, and Agroshop as winners in their respective tracks. Furthermore, the event marked a significant milestone with the signing of an MOU between the Algorand Foundation and the Taraba State Government to provide blockchain training to local youth, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing Nigeria’s digital economy. BICCoN remains dedicated to fostering blockchain talent, bridging gaps between stakeholders, and driving innovation to position Nigeria as a global leader in blockchain technology.
